Proxies for AliExpress: Choosing a Type, Setting Up and Testing

A proxy for AliExpress sends your connection through an IP address in another country, so you can see the prices, shipping methods and delivery times offered to buyers there. It is a working tool for dropshippers, sellers, marketers and analysts who need to check AliExpress from several regions without travelling or asking colleagues abroad.

Below: what the IP actually changes on AliExpress and what it doesn't, how residential, static, mobile and datacenter proxies compare for typical tasks, setup in Chrome, Windows, Android and iPhone, a short test before you start, and solutions for the problems people run into most.

How the IP Shapes What AliExpress Shows

When a new visitor arrives, AliExpress reads the connecting address, decides where that person probably lives and pre-selects a destination, language and currency in the Ship to widget at the top. Everything downstream follows that choice:

  • the price tag and any discount, both of which vary by destination;
  • available shipping methods, their cost and delivery estimates;
  • whether a seller ships to that country at all;
  • local promotions, coupons and banners.

Several things stay the same through a proxy. Your account, its saved addresses, payment methods and order history don't move. Your bank charges in its own currency regardless of the display setting. And the platform's rules on accounts, reviews and request frequency apply to every IP.

One more nuance: the Ship to setting alone already changes prices and shipping for many products. A proxy matters when you need the full picture a local visitor gets, including IP-based defaults, regional landing pages and ads, or when you check many regions systematically. Russia is a special case: visitors with Russian IPs are usually sent to a separate local AliExpress platform with its own catalog and prices.

Typical Tasks

  • Dropshipping: checking whether a product ships to your customers' country and how long delivery takes.
  • Selling on AliExpress: seeing how your listing, price and shipping templates look to buyers in each market.
  • Marketing: verifying that affiliate links, promo pages and ads open correctly in the target region.
  • Analytics: tracking prices and assortment of product groups across countries.
  • QA: testing a website or app integration that depends on AliExpress regional pages.

For research across many products, rotating proxies spread requests over a pool of residential addresses. For an account that should always appear from the same place, a static proxy keeps things calm and consistent. The trade-off between the two modes is explained in our article on sticky vs rotating proxies.

Skip free public lists. Their addresses are shared by crowds of users, often already flagged, and nobody can tell you who else sees your traffic.

Connecting a Proxy for AliExpress

Grab four things from your provider first: the gateway (an IP or hostname), its port, the scheme it speaks (HTTP or SOCKS5) and either a username with password or a whitelisted IP of your own.

Step 1. One Browser Profile per Market

For marketplace research, a browser add-on beats any system setting: AliExpress traffic goes through the gateway while mail, chats and updates stay on your normal line.

  1. Add a manager like Proxy SwitchyOmega to Chrome.
  2. Give each market its own profile, say "ali-us" and "ali-de", so you never mix regions by accident.
  3. Paste the gateway and port into the profile, for example 198.51.100.17:10000, and pick the scheme.
  4. If the plan is credential-based, fill in the username and password block.
  5. Switch on the profile you need, then load AliExpress in a fresh incognito tab.

Step 2. A System-Wide Proxy on Windows

When a desktop tool also has to reach AliExpress through the same exit, use the operating system. In Windows 11, the Proxy page lives under Network & internet in Settings; its manual block has a Set up button that opens a small form for the gateway and port. That form keeps no credentials, so Chrome or Edge will prompt for them on first contact. Since every program that respects system settings now uses the gateway, flip the toggle back off once the session is over.

Step 3. Phones: Wi-Fi Proxy and Its Limits

Both Android and iOS tie the proxy to a single Wi-Fi network rather than the whole device. On Android you reach it by holding the network name and opening the advanced options of Modify network; the manual mode accepts a gateway and port but no username, so whitelisting is the only way to authorise. On an iPhone the same idea sits behind the "i" next to the network, under Configure Proxy, and there the Authentication switch does accept a username and password. Screens for the Apple side are in our guide to proxies on iPhone and iPad.

Keep in mind that the shopping app may ignore this Wi-Fi hint altogether. For app testing, a client that tunnels all phone traffic is more reliable, and checking prices in a mobile browser is a quick fallback.

A Five-Minute Check Before Real Work

  1. With the gateway off, look up and note your real address.
  2. Activate the profile and look again: you should now see a different IP and the target country.
  3. Ask a second lookup site as well. Geo databases sometimes disagree, so two matching answers are reassuring.
  4. In a private tab, open AliExpress and look at Ship to: country and currency should match the exit.
  5. Click through a handful of product cards and note whether any of them hang or drop.

Common Problems

The IP didn't change. The proxy is set for a different browser or app, or the extension profile is inactive. Mobile apps often bypass the Wi-Fi proxy.

AliExpress still shows your home country. Old cookies or the saved Ship to setting win over the IP. Use a private window or change the setting manually.

Pages load slowly. Pick an exit node closer to you or with less load, and reduce the number of parallel tabs.

Captcha or slider checks appear. Too many quick requests, IPs changing every minute or a flagged address. Slow down, keep one IP per session and switch to residential addresses.

The region looks wrong. Geolocation databases can lag behind real changes. If two services show different countries, ask the provider for an address with consistent records.

Good Practices

  • Keep one IP per account and one country per workflow instead of jumping between regions.
  • Collect prices at a calm pace; for regular checks see our price monitoring scenario.
  • Test the proxy before long tasks, not in the middle of them.
  • Never use proxies for fake reviews, coupon abuse or duplicate accounts: these break AliExpress rules whatever the IP.

AliExpress proxy FAQ

Does AliExpress allow proxies?

Viewing the site through a proxy is not banned as such. Problems start with activity that breaks the rules, such as multiple accounts for coupon abuse or mass automated requests, and a proxy does not protect from that.

Why are AliExpress prices different in another country?

Sellers set prices, shipping methods and promotions per destination, and taxes and logistics costs differ. When the Ship to country changes, the price and delivery options can change with it.

What proxy should I use to track AliExpress prices?

For watching hundreds of listings in several countries, a rotating residential pool works best, since the load lands on lots of household addresses rather than one. Anything done while signed in deserves a fixed address instead.

Can I change the AliExpress country without a proxy?

Yes, the Ship to selector in the header changes the country, language and currency. A proxy adds the IP-based view: default region, local promotions and ads that a real visitor from that country sees.

Why does the AliExpress app ignore my proxy?

The Wi-Fi proxy on Android and iOS is a hint that many apps don't follow. Use a client that routes all phone traffic, or check prices in a mobile browser instead.
